Possible Nokia 9 Certified By FCC Ahead Of U.S. Release

A device made by HMD Global Oy bearing the model number TA-1004 that’s said to be the Nokia 9 had been certified by the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) earlier this week, as evidenced by a set of testing documentation published by the agency on Friday. The listing confirms that the handset was designed in Finland and reveals that it supports both GSM and CDMA bands, indicating that it works with networks of all major mobile service providers in the country. The supposed Nokia 9 supports NFC and Bluetooth 4.2, the FCC found, though no other relevant information about the device has been provided in the newly uncovered documents.

Regardless, the Nokia TA-1004 is far from a mystery, with this particular HMD-made device having already been sighted on numerous occasions, including a number of appearances in databases of several mobile benchmarking tools. According to those reports, the Nokia 9 (TA-1004) will be powered by the Snapdragon 835, Qualcomm’s 64-bit system-on-chip (SoC) with the Adreno 540 GPU and eight Kyro cores clocked at a maximum frequency of 1.9GHz. The device is also said to boast 4GB of RAM and at least 32GB of internal flash memory that will presumably be expandable via a microSD card slot by up to 256GB. The Nokia 9 is thought to run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box that should be relatively clean and similar to the stock version of Google’s ubiquitous operating system, as the Finnish original equipment manufacturer (OEM) previously said that it opted against developing a proprietary mobile user interface due to not being able to top Google’s software efforts.
